Lovecraftian Romance Sucker for Love Gets January Release Date

Things are about to get R’lyeh Weird! Sucker for Love was originally included as a part of the Dread X Collection 2 and publisher Dread XP has announced it will release on January 13th on Steam as a standalone title with new story and gameplay.

In this Lovecraftian visual novel, you’ll have a chance to woo one of three lucky ladies based on Elder Gods: Ln’eta (Cthulu), Nyanlathotep (Nyarlathotep), or Estir (Hastur). Visual Novels are known for their many endings, so be sure to try every option (and create multiple saves) to see what happens! The game will feature three chapters and each girl is fully voice acted (by Michaela Laws, Lani Mainella, and Kayli Mills, respectively). Sucker for Loves visuals and music are heavily inspired by classic anime and dating sims. Don’t be fooled by the cute exterior, these are true Eldritch Gods and they have such sights to show you.

To tide you over, developer AkaBaka will also be releasing Sucker for Love: Prelude on December 15th! This is the original game from the Dread X Collection 2, now available by itself for those brave enough to attempt to smooch the Eldrich Goddess, Ln’eta. You’ll have to perform a few rituals from the Necronomicon first, though…

The Dread X collections have become a treasure trove of small horror titles from various indie devs including Torple Dook, Modus Interactive, the Scythe Dev Team, and David Szymanski, among many others. Four collections are currently available on Steam, including an FPS-focused collection called The Hunt. Spookwarea humourous Warioware adventure following a trio of skeletons, was also released as a standalone title in August of 2021. Upcoming Dread XP titles include Dread Delusion; an open-world RPG with dark fantasy elements, and My Friendly Neighborhood; a survival horror game where all the characters are Muppet-esque.
