Suitable Flesh Trailer Hints at Insane Lovecraftian Terrors

RLJE’s upcoming Lovecraftian horror film Suitable Flesh has been on my radar for a while now, and I’ve been absolutely dying to see it. Not only am I a huge fan of H. P. Lovecraft, but the movie has been getting some pretty great buzz from its festival run too, so this just might end up being one of my favorite films of the year. However, despite all that excitement, I haven’t been entirely sure what to expect from this movie. I just know that it sounds awesome, and that’s been enough for me. Until now, that is. RLJE just dropped a trailer for Suitable Flesh, and after getting the chance to watch it, I’m more hyped than ever to finally sit down and check this film out.

It’s based on H. P. Lovecraft’s short story The Thing on the Doorstep, and it’s about a clinical psychologist who seems to have it all. But one day, her life takes a drastic turn when she meets a mysterious new patient. The encounter makes her the new host of a malevolent cosmic entity, and all she can do is helplessly look on as her life becomes a whirlpool of occult terror.

Admittedly, that plot synopsis is pretty vague, but if the trailer is any indication, there’s a lot more to Suitable Flesh than we’re being told. It feels like the vast majority of what we see here comes from the movie’s first two acts, so I suspect that we’re going to be in for some huge Lovecraftian surprises. And you know what? That’s totally fine by me. I always prefer to go into films as blind as possible, so I can’t wait to find out what eldritch horrors this one has in store.

Suitable Flesh is set to hit VOD and theaters on October 27, and then it’ll become available on Shudder sometime in 2024.
