A Quiet Place Part II Trailer Is Full of Action and Tension

One of my most anticipated movies for two years running has been A Quiet Place Part II. The first one was a huge hit, and the film’s creative use of silence gave us a unique horror experience we had never had before. We still haven’t really seen anything like it since then, so fans have been eagerly awaiting a sequel for some time now.

That sequel was supposed to arrive last year, but it was pushed back multiple times due to the pandemic. It eventually landed on a mid-2021 release date, and if the new trailer is any indication, it looks like the film is actually going to come out this time.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

“Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.”

That’s pretty vague, and the trailer doesn’t fill in too many details. Instead, it focuses more on the tone and feel of the film, and it’s fantastic. In particular, it looks like A Quiet Place Part II is going to feature the same great mix of action and excruciating tension that the first movie had, and I couldn’t be more excited.

For example, the trailer opens with John Krasinski’s character shopping at the local pharmacy, and it’s a masterful calm before the storm. It looks just like any other day, but since you know what comes next, there’s a thick sense of dread that pervades the entire scene. You know the alien attack can happen at any moment, so the tension builds with every passing second.

Then, when the world goes crazy and people begin running for their lives, it’s way more exhilarating than a five-second shot should be. You feel the characters’ fear even though you know they’re going to survive, and when the Paramount logo appears, it leaves you thirsting for more.

That’s just part of the trailer, and the rest of it is just as good. The slower moments are incredibly tense, and the faster-paced shots are super exciting (and also really tense!). I’m completely sold on the tone and feel of A Quiet Place Part II, so I’m counting down the days until I finally get to see it.

And thankfully, the wait is down to just a few weeks. The film arrives in theaters on May 28, and I already have my ticket for opening night.

So what do you think of the trailer for A Quiet Place Part II? Do you agree with JP that it features great tension and action? Let us know in the comments!
