1899 Trailer Promises a Super Intriguing Horror Mystery

If you’re looking for the next great horror TV show, then I’ve got just the trailer for you. Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, the duo behind the popular Netflix series Dark, are coming out with a new show called 1899, and Netflix just dropped a trailer for it. Here’s what the series is going to be about:

On their journey across the vast and treacherous Atlantic Ocean, the passengers of the Kerberos encounter the biggest mystery of their lives. Welcome to 1899, a deeply immersive new series from the creators of Dark.

That’s admittedly a pretty vague plot synopsis, but luckily for us, the trailer fills in a few gaps for us. It looks like a ship called the Prometheus went missing several years ago, and nobody knows what happened to it…until now. The crew of the Kerberos receive a message from the Prometheus and track the ship down, and when they board it, they find a deadly secret that threatens to destroy them all.

That premise is super intriguing, and if the trailer is any indication, 1899 is going to execute it just about perfectly. The acting and the set design look spot-on, but hands down, the best thing about this trailer is the mystery of just what the hell happened to the Prometheus and what’s happening to the Kerberos.

It looks just as compelling as the premise suggests, and the trailer makes it even more interesting by giving us a slight peek behind the curtain. We see just enough to speculate a bit, but not enough to get any concrete answers, so it hits a sweet spot that most horror trailers only wish they could find.

That makes me really excited to see this show, and thankfully, we’ll be getting the chance to do that very soon. 1899 premiers on Netflix on November 17, and if it’s as good as the trailer suggests, we’re in for a real treat.
