Project Wolf Hunting Trailer Promises a Blood-Soaked Horror/Action Mashup

I love a good genre mashup. Whether it’s horror and comedy, horror and drama, or horror and just about anything else, I’m there for it. So of course, when I heard about the trailer for Project Wolf Hunting, a horror/action mashup that combines elements of such disparate movies as Predator, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, I had to check it out. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical going in, but by the time the trailer was done, I couldn’t wait to see this movie. Here’s what it’s about:

While under heavily armed guard, the dangerous convicts aboard a cargo ship unite in a coordinated escape attempt that soon escalates into a bloody, all-out riot. But as the fugitives continue their brutal campaign of terror, they soon discover that not even the most vicious among them is safe from the horror they unknowingly unleashed from the darkness below deck.

That plot synopsis alone sounds pretty crazy, but if the trailer is any indication, it doesn’t even scratch the surface of the blood-soaked insanity Project Wolf Hunting is going to bring. Before the horror kicks into gear, this already promises to be an ultra-violent action movie, and when the real threat shows up, the film takes the brutality to a whole other level.

It turns into a gory slasher flick that still remains true to its action movie roots, and from the looks of it, nobody is safe from the villain’s murderous rampage. This guy is out for blood any way he can get it, and he’s not going to let anyone or anything get in his way. In a word, this looks like the perfect mashup of American slasher tropes and Asian action stylings, so you can bet I’m going to check it out the first chance I get.

Project Wolf Hunting hits VOD, DVD, and Blu-ray on February 14.
