Immanence Trailer Teases a Fascinating Alien Mystery

Arguably the best thing about aliens is that they can be anything. They can be monstrous xenomorphs, murderous clowns, amorphous blobs, or anything our imaginations can conjure up. The sky’s the limit (quite literally!), so unlike many other horror subgenres, alien movies are often as different from one another as zombie films are from slashers. And if there’s any doubt about that, just check out the new trailer for Immanence, an upcoming alien movie that puts its otherworldly antagonists in a wildly different setting than we’re used to.

The film is about a group of scientists who discover a mysterious signal in the Bermuda Triangle, and they think it might be from aliens who’ve made camp in the deep sea. Soon enough, the scientists begin to experience a whole bunch of strange phenomena, and these odd occurrences eventually threaten both their sanity and their lives.

That plot description alone is enough to tell us how different Immanence promises to be from your typical alien fare, and the trailer just hammers the point home even further. For starters, we don’t really know if this is an alien movie. Sure, the characters think they’ve made contact with extraterrestrials, but we never actually see the antagonists. Maybe they’re demons, or maybe they’re malevolent sea creatures we simply haven’t discovered yet. In fact, they could be just about anything, but whatever they are, I’m super excited to delve into this fascinating mystery.

On top of that, this trailer also makes it seem like Immanence is going to be more psychological than alien movies often tend to be. It appears that these creatures are going to mess with the characters’ minds rather than their bodies, and they may not even need to make any physical contact to do so. That’s a terrifying concept, and I can’t wait to see just how bonkers this story gets.

When you put those two great elements together, you get a unique alien film that I for one am really looking forward to, and thankfully, it’ll be here before you know it. Immanence hits VOD on February 4, and if it’s anywhere near as good as its trailer suggests, we might be in for something really special.
