The Institute Trailer Promises an Intriguing and Creepy Mystery

Have you ever watched a trailer and felt like you had no idea what was going on but you knew you just had to find out? That’s how I feel about the trailer for The Institute. While I get the basic premise, I have no idea what’s really happening in this story and I absolutely can’t wait for my chance to look behind the curtain.

The Institute is about a young couple who’s struggling to have a baby so they turn to a renowned fertility institute known as Lands Institute. The place provides a unique form of care that seems great at first, but when that treatment causes some strange side effects, they become suspicious and try to find out what their doctor is really doing to them.

I love how this trailer starts out pretty innocently and then slowly gets darker and darker. In fact, for about the first 30 seconds, this doesn’t even seem like a horror movie. It looks like a trailer for a drama (and a sappy one at that!), but before it can get too mushy, it starts to subtly change gears.

The trailer for The Institute becomes creepier and creepier, and then, in the last 15 seconds or so, it goes all-in on the horror. It lets you know without a doubt that this doctor is doing something terrible, but it doesn’t tell us what that might be.

Is the Lands Institute some sort of cult? Is it just a mad scientist who performs unconscionable experiments on his unsuspecting patients? Or is there something even more sinister going on? We simply don’t know, and that’s just the way I like it.

This is a super intriguing mystery that I can’t wait to learn more about so I’m completely sold on this film. The Institute hits VOD, DVD, and Blu-ray on March 22, and if it lives up to the promise of its trailer, we’re going to be in for one hell of a ride.
