The Final Halloween Ends Trailer Promises One Hell of a Showdown Between Michael and Laurie

We’re closing in on the stretch run of another great year for horror, but there are still a few really exciting films that have yet to come out. Most notably, the end of our current iteration of the Halloween franchise, Halloween Ends, is just two and a half weeks away, and today, Universal put out one last trailer for it.

I have to admit, I’m not the biggest fan of slasher movies, but for some reason, I’ve loved both of these new Halloween films. So naturally, Halloween Ends was already one of my most anticipated movies of the year, and with this new trailer, my excitement for it has gone through the roof.

This trailer is pretty much everything I could’ve asked for. It has some cool callbacks to the original Halloween, it features a whole lot of Laurie Strode (who we admittedly didn’t get enough of in Halloween Kills), and it showcases an absolutely terrifying Michael Myers. That’s pretty much what this franchise is all about, so what else could fans want?

That being said, there is one thing about this trailer that I didn’t quite love. There’s a part where we see Michael stalking Laurie, and that seems to backtrack on something the 2018 Halloween established. In that film, Michael is no longer obsessed with Laurie, and he only ends up at her house in the third act because his doctor brought him there.

However, in this Halloween Ends trailer, it appears that he’s back to stalking her again, and that’s an odd change of direction. I’m not sure what the filmmakers are going for here, but I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I’ve loved their previous two films, and everything else in this trailer is fantastic, so I’m sure this seemingly ill-fitting detail will make sense in context.

Halloween Ends will be coming out on Peacock and in theaters on October 14.
