We Finally Have a Trailer for Space Monster Wangmagwi!

A few months ago, we brought you news that SRS Cinema was set to release a Korean kaiju movie called Space Monster Wangmagwi in North America later in 2022, and we now have our first trailer for it. The film first came out back in 1967, but it’s never been released anywhere in the world on any sort of physical or digital media. In fact, aside from a few very brief YouTube clips and some stills, it’s never even been seen by Western audiences, and it was actually considered lost up until recently. But thankfully, Space Monster Wangmagwi has been found again, and it’s finally going to get the North American release it deserves.

As you can probably guess from the title, Space Monster Wangmagwi is about a giant space monster that comes to earth and wreaks havoc, and if you’re a big kaiju fan like me, that’s all you need to know. Sure, there appears to be a bit more to the story than just that (in particular, the official plot synopsis says there’s a slight King Kong-style twist to it as well), but let’s be honest. The main reason anybody is going to see this film is the giant monster action, so we don’t really need to know anything else about it.

And if the trailer is any indication, it appears that Space Monster Wangmagwi will have plenty of action. The entire trailer is basically just shots of this creature running wild, and I have to say, it’s pretty cool. Sure, it doesn’t look like this movie is going to reinvent the kaiju wheel, but it does seem like it’s going to be a fun ride, so I for one am super excited to see it.

We don’t know exactly when Space Monster Wangmagwi will be coming out, but the SRS Cinema “coming soon” web page says pre-orders are set to begin some time this month.
