Upcoming Horror Film Room 428 Has Four Intriguing Names Attached to It

One of the best things about being familiar with horror filmmakers is that you can get excited about a project based solely on the names attached to it. Even if you don’t know anything about a movie, you can still experience the joy of looking forward to it because you trust the people behind it, and that’s always a ton of fun. Case in point: Room 428.

Plot details for the film are being kept almost entirely under wraps, so we have no idea what it’s going to be about. All we know is that it’s some sort of supernatural horror movie, but that doesn’t really tell us much. Supernatural horror is a very broad subgenre, so at this point, Room 428 could be almost anything!

The Wretched (2019)

But despite that shroud of mystery, there’s still reason to get excited for this film. For starters, Deadline is reporting that two of its producers are Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, and they’re some of the best horror filmmakers of recent years. They’ve worked together numerous times, usually as a co-writing duo (with Derrickson also directing), and their filmography includes such gems as Sinister, Doctor Strange, and The Black Phone. Granted, this time they’re just producing, so their involvement doesn’t automatically mean we should put this film on our most-anticipated lists, but the pair that’s actually writing and directing Rom 428 is also pretty exciting.

The movie is being written and directed by Brett and Drew Pierce, who also wrote and directed the 2020 sleeper hit The Wretched, and if you’ve never seen that film, do yourself a favor and check it out. It’s by no means a modern classic, but it’s a fun little horror flick that helped make the pandemic lockdowns a tiny bit easier to swallow for genre fans.

When you put those four names together, you get more than enough reason to be excited for Room 428, so I for one am going to keep an eye out for more news about it. I’m excited to see what this team comes up with, and when we learn more about the movie, we’ll be sure to let you guys know.
