Sarah Paulson Will Star in Dust

American Horror Story’s Sarah Paulson leads the cast in Dust, an upcoming horror thriller from Searchlight Pictures. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in late August. Dust will stream on Disney’s DTC platforms as a Hulu original in the U.S. Other release plans are to be announced.

Set during the 1930s in Oklahoma, Dust is the story of a young mother threatened by an ominous presence amid increasingly dangerous dust storms. She must resort to extreme measures to protect her family. Dust was written by Westworld writer Karrie Crouse, who also serves as co-director alongside Will Joines. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in late August. Besides starring in the film, Paulson also serves as an executive producer. The Wrap reported that the Emmy-winning actress replaces Claire Foy, who was originally cast as the lead in 2020 when Searchlight first acquired the project.

Indie Wire reported that Searchlight Presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield issued a joint statement saying, “Sarah is an extraordinary artist and we are thrilled to be working with her again.” Before Dust, Sarah Paulson starred in Steve McQueen’s Academy Award-winning 12 Years a Slave and Sean Durkin’s Martha Marcy May Marlene for Searchlight.

Paulson earned Emmy nods for her work on another FX anthology series, American Crime Story. She won an Emmy for her performance in the series’ first installment, The People vs. O.J. Simpson. Paulson played O.J. Simpson prosecutor, Marcia Clark. She received a nomination for her role in Impeachment, which was about Monica Lewinsky. Paulson played Lewinsky’s friend and confidant, Linda Tripp who told all about Lewinsky’s affair with Bill Clinton.

Paulson’s most recent role was Run for Hulu. Besides American Horror Story and American Crime Story, she also starred in Mrs. America. Besides Dust, Sarah Paulson is also cast in Clybourne Park, which is adapted from a Pulitzer Prize-winning play, directed by Tony winner Pam MacKinnon. Paulson will also star in Untamed, which is based on Glennon Doyle’s memoir.
