The Munsters Is Set for a Netflix Release This September

Of all the horror movies coming out in the second half of 2022, Rob Zombie’s The Munsters just might be the most intriguing. On the one hand, Rob Zombie is known for his ultra-violent, grindhouse-esque style, so at first glance, he seems like the absolute wrong person to bring the beloved TV family to life for modern audiences.

However, if you look at it another way, this might actually be the perfect pairing. If there’s one IP that would make Rob Zombie ditch his typical MO and try something new, it would be The Munsters, so this could be just the change of pace he needs to broaden his directorial horizons.

However it turns out, this movie is sure to be an interesting cinematic experiment, so I’ve been anxiously awaiting some more concrete news about its release. Up until now, all we’ve known is that it’s set to come out some time in September, and we’ve been in the dark about the exact date and where we’d be able to watch it.

But now, thanks to an Instagram post from Rob Zombie himself, we finally have an answer to one of those mysteries. Here’s what he said:

This fall we are gonna spook-out like it’s 1964! 🎥Yep, THE MUNSTERS and THE ADDAMS FAMILY are returning to the boob tube at the same time courtesy of @netflix ☠️ It’s been 58 years since this clash of the titans first happened. 🎃 Perfect entertainment for your pumpkin carving party.

Of course, Zombie isn’t involved in the upcoming Addams Family series Wednesday, but he’s excited about these two classic TV properties coming back to the small screen at around the same time, and so am I. I grew up with the 1990s Addams Family movies and reruns of The Munsters, so I’m excited to see both properties make their hopefully triumphant returns.

More importantly though, this confirms that The Munsters will be releasing via Netflix, so we won’t have to go to a theater to see it. We’ll be able to watch it from the comfort of our own homes, and as much as I love going out to the movies, I’m totally up for a quiet night in as well.

Granted, we still don’t know the exact day The Munsters will become available, but once we find out, we’ll be sure to let you guys know. Until then, check out the trailer below and get a taste of what this film has in store for us.
