Joe Bob Briggs Looks Out for the Little Mutant

Hey everybody, have you heard the news? Those are the lyrics that everyone associated with the Mutant Fam hears every time we fire up our electronic devices and kick off another episode of The Last Drive-In on Shudder. Whether you are a single person struggling to meet ends meet or a well-off family with a house of kids, we all have one thing in common: our love of horror and Joe Bob Briggs. The Last Drive In logo

I find myself wedged in between on that spectrum, but my love of what Joe Bob, Darcy the Mail Girl, and the crew of The Last Drive-In has never wavered. There’s always been something about the array of horror films balanced with the knowledge and humor that Joe Bob and Darcy bring to the table. It’s a mix that is every horror fan’s dream. And someone like myself, who has been a fan of Joe Bob for many years, a goal I have yet to achieve is to meet the man. That lifelong goal ends on Friday, July 15, 2022.

I live in the remote Pacific Northwest of the United States, so the odds of having Joe Bob visit anywhere near the Canadian border seemed as remote as the wilderness surrounding me. I would tell myself, “Joe Bob is a well-known celebrity; he’s off doing big city bull stuff.” Instead, Joe Bob understands every Mutant is created equal and is venturing out to where the buses don’t run.

That’s right! Joe Bob took time out of his busy schedule and is paying a visit to the Pacific Northwest. More accurately, he’ll be in Sandpoint, Idaho, for one night only! Sandpoint is located in the northern panhandle of Idaho, about an hour south of Canada, and wedged between eastern Washington state and western Montana.

So, calling all the Mutant Fam, it is time to assemble in Sandpoint, Idaho, on July 15th! Joe Bob will host his one-man show, How Rednecks Saved Hollywood, at the historic Panida Theater with Darcy the Mail Girl in attendance as an added bonus! Come one, come all as Joe Bob makes his way out (north)west.

Tickets are on sale now through the Panida Theater’s website. Let’s celebrate that Joe Bob Briggs looks out for every Mutant equally and show that appreciation by rocking the Panida Theater to its core with love and (Mutant) family!

Robert Chipman has had a love of all things horror for as long as he can remember. His favorite horror franchise is the Nightmare on Elm Street series and his favorite horror director is John Carpenter. He thinks the Maniac Cop series is supremely underrated, Demon Knight and In the Mouth of Madness are slept on and loves what Don Mancini has accomplished with the Child's Play franchise.
