Ever since Host took the horror world by storm in 2020, genre fans have been waiting with bated breath to see what director Rob Savage would do next. We soon found out that he was going to direct a movie called Dashcam, and after making its rounds on the festival circuit last year, the film has finally been scheduled for a wide release. Along with that release news, we also got a teaser trailer for Dashcam, and it’s awesome.
The film is about a live streaming musician named Annie, and one day she’s asked to help out a frail elderly woman who’s being chased by someone who wants to harm her. Annie agrees to take the woman to safety, but as the night wears on, she and her friend Stretch soon find themselves fighting against a sinister supernatural force that wants to turn Annie into its next host.
That’s a really intriguing premise and the trailer for Dashcam is just as riveting. Since it’s only a teaser, it doesn’t show us much, but the little bit we do see has me absolutely dying to see more.
It’s a short 50-second clip from the movie that showcases the kind of super simple, but super effective, horror that made Host such a success. The teaser relies on good old-fashioned tension and suspense rather than fancy special effects or flashy CGI, so unsurprisingly, it’s probably the scariest thing you’ll see today.
And if the teaser is that good, just imagine what the full movie is going to be like. I can’t wait to find out, and thankfully, the wait isn’t going to be too long. Dashcam is getting a theatrical and VOD release on June 3rd, and if the trailer is any indication, it looks like the film just might live up to our sky-high expectations.
