The Northman Final Trailer Showcases Beautiful Shots and Rave Reviews

We’re just a bit over a week away from finally being able to see Robert Eggers’s Viking revenge epic The Northman, and the studio has given us a new trailer to hold us over as we count down the days until the film’s release. Admittedly, it doesn’t have a ton of footage we haven’t seen before, but for my money, it’s still well worth a watch.

For starters, it lets us know, without a doubt, that this movie is going to be absolutely gorgeous. In fact, it reminds me a lot of The Green Knight in that regard. Every frame of that film is so perfectly crafted that you could screenshot it at just about any moment and get a really nice picture to hang up on your wall, and that’s pretty much how I feel about this new trailer for The Northman. It’s way more than just another piece of marketing for an upcoming movie. It’s a visual masterpiece, so you can enjoy it as a work of art in its own right.

And if the trailer is that good, just imagine how awesome the complete film is going to be. Sure, you can never be totally certain that a movie is going to live up to its trailer, but I have faith that Robert Eggers will deliver the goods. His previous films The Witch and The Lighthouse are both fantastic, so I have every reason to believe that this one will follow suit.

And in case there’s any doubt about that, this trailer lays it to rest with a bunch of awesome quotes from the many critics who are gushing over The Northman. It reminds us that just about everybody who’s seen the movie so far has loved it, so we have every reason to believe it’s going to be just as good as we’re expecting.

The Northman hits theaters on April 22.
