A24 has become a darling of the horror film scene, with releases like Hereditary, Midsommar, Lamb, and The Witch. Yesterday the poster for X was shown, teasing a new trailer—and it did not disappoint.
Ti West, director/writer of The Roost, The House Of The Devil, The Innkeepers, and The Sacrament unveils a new tale of terror that follows a group of young adult filmmakers who set out to rural Texas to shoot their newest flick and find out the locals are not what they appear. The poster features a sexy pair of legs, slightly crossed to make an “X,” with beautiful sunset-esque reds and oranges dominating the colour scheme and with the tagline dying to show you a good time. (Love that!)
West has also directed episodes of horror shows, including Scream, Chambers, Outlast, and The Exorcist. He also dabbles in other genres like In A Valley Of Violence, a western starring Ethan Hawke (Sinister, The Purge, and the upcoming film The Black Phone) and John Travolta.
There’s a lot of classic vibes to this one, from the obvious Texas Chain Saw Massacre weird hillbillies family in a huge house to the eye looking through a peephole that you just know is going to get stabbed or impaled, and it’s going to be gruesome. Hoping for some old-school gore to go with the old-school setting. The story of developing a porn film while creepy neighbours are out and about makes for an interesting idea, and I’m excited to see where it goes!
The cast includes Brittany Snow (Prom Night), Mia Goth (Suspiria), Scott Mescudi (known by his stage name Kid Cudi), Martin Henderson (The Ring), Owen Campbell (Super Dark Times), Stephen Ure (Deathgasm), and Jenna Ortega (Scream 2022) in the A24-produced and financed project.
X is slated to release on March 18th, 2022.
